Windows are simple yet high-performance substrates with parallel or slightly wedged surfaces. They separate one optical environment from another, and can be used to sample or steer a beam. CVI Laser Optics’ line of catalog and semi-custom windows includes a wide selection of shapes, wedge options, and antireflection coatings. All are manufactured to the same exacting standards for low wavefront distortion, low scatter, and high laser damage threshold to satisfy even the most demanding laser applications.
Our windows are manufactured from your choice of N-BK7 or UV-grade fused silica to λ/10 transmitted wavefront error and with 10-5 scratch and dig surface quality. All are user-specified, allowing you to choose the shape, size, wedge, and antireflection coatings you need. We offer circular windows as large as 152.4 mm in diameter, and square and rectangular windows with areas up to 2500 mm2, all with ≥ 85% clear aperture. Our laser windows are near-parallel at ≤ 10 arc seconds, while the square and rectangular windows have less than 5 arc minutes of wedge. We also offer low-wedge interferometer flats manufactured to 30 ± 5 arc minutes and large-wedge windows with 1°-3° of wedge for beam steering or eliminating back reflections.
Low-stress multilayer dielectric antireflection coatings can be applied to one or both sides of our windows for maximum transmission, low back reflection, and improvement of laser damage threshold. These coatings are available at a number of standard laser line and broad bandwidths from 193 – 1550 nm, optimized for any polarization at 0° or 45° angle of incidence, and can be customized for your application.
Application tip: Two windows of equal wedge can be combined to create a variable beam-steering apparatus capable of placing a beam anywhere within a cone defined by the deviation angle of the wedged window.
